“To me, the relationships formed in this community are a symbol of the relationship between God and humanity. They are the tactile representations of the spiritual and the way I can understand God’s love for me.”
- a Franciscan Community Volunteer

The Franciscan Community Volunteers program is a post-graduate, long-term volunteer Franciscan program for young adults, ages 21-30 who are looking for an authentic way to live an integrated life of faith and service in the world, modeled on the example of Saints Francis and Clare.  FCV is designed for just that: an eleven month commitment of intentional community living dedicated to serving and advocating on behalf of the underserved. FCV is a member of AmeriCorps and Catholic Volunteer Network.

The Franciscan Community Volunteer Program is dedicated to providing an experience of faith, simplicity, service, and solidarity with the poor by way of integrating three pillars:

  • Community
  • Service
  • Spirituality

During their eleven months of post-grad, long-term service the Franciscan Community Volunteers are invited to:

  • enter into a process of companionship with the poor, including practicing simplicity, in the Spirit of Saints Francis and Clare
  • work closely with the poor and marginalized, dedicated to serving and advocating on their behalf
  • share in community living supported by prayer, reflection and discussion on the Gospel

The Franciscan Connection

FCV is a ministry sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls, Minnesota, "A community of women religious whose members are called to live the Gospel joyfully and to reverence the earth and all of God's creation. In the spirit of Saints Francis and Clare of Assisi, we embody a life of prayer, simple living, and service to those in need. We are committed to non-violence as we recognize the need for healing in ourselves and in our world. We seek to build communities of peace and justice wherever we are called to serve."
